Film description: In Toka, the only rule is that there are no rules. In this insightful documentary, filmmakers Dave and Cyndee Wing and Walter Arnell explore the extraordinary game of "Toka"" the thrilling game of Tohono O'odham dust hockey played only by women. Set against the backdrop of the Sonoran Desert, the film explores the environment and its relation to the sport. The materials and desert plants used to make the equipment, as well as the desert itself that provides the playing field, serve to display the harmonious and symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature. Toka is a fascinating exercise in gender reversal.
