<text>Arizona International Film Festival program film description: This powerful portrait depicts the life of a Mexican-American family confronting the loss of a family member. As a young woman, Kathe falls into a hard life of drugs and prostitution. She is shot and killed by a young man who, through the course of this documentary, is subsequently tried and sentenced to only one year. Tucson native and University of Arizona alumna, Martin, forms a relationship with Kathe's two older sisters, who are also experiencing the underground world of drugs and prostitution, as she spends three years videotaping their lives. Their stories paint a picture of a girl who crossed over to the wrong side of the tracks at a young age. As she herself succinctly states, "When you're on drugs you can't see. You look at yourself in the mirror and you can't see that you got too much make-up on... you can't see. You don't realize a lot, a lot of things." Kathe did not realize how bleak her life was becoming or recognize the pattern of violence in which she was trapped. </text>
