Tushka
Description
Arizona International Film Festival program film description: Agents of the FBI in Oklahoma have designated Tushka, an American Indian activist organization, as a subversive group which needs to be neutralized. They especially want to silence Marcus Beames, a prominent leader, respected and vocal. When FBI agent Raines is unable to get the job done, hard-nosed agent Williams is sent down from Chicago. And Williams will stop at nothing, not even murder. A fictionalized drama based on real life events during the 1970s, the film is set during the period when the FBI waged its COINTELPRQ campaign against civil rights efforts made by organizations such as the American Indian Movement. A raw, compelling story, Tushka tells of government corruption, Indian defiance, and the power of the human spirit.
