Sonny Days
Description
Arizona International Film Festival program film description: Galway's Noughton's Drapery Shop closed its doors, after eighty years of existence, in 1997. Sonny Molloy (The King of High Street) carried on the work of his father-in-law, James Naughton, for over fifty years. This is the story of that work and of the social fabric of a business where customers and traditions were of central importance. This is a story of a shop where the memories of its patrons help tell us of a way of life now gone but certainly important to remember. As Haughey notes, the film has "an air of sadness ... [but] there is also one of celebration."
