Description

Arizona International Film Festival program film description: Inspired by a diary entry reported in People magazine's coverage of a 1982 California murder ("Today we ran away and killed an old lady. It was lots of fun.") Fun is an uncommonly intelligent, chilling account of two 15-year-old girls who meet, bond, and murder. Technically dazzling, the film intercuts black and white verite-style footage of post-conviction interviews with the girls and colorful subjective flashbacks of their "awesome" day together. A "kinetic odyssey into the emptiest comers of the teenage waste land. Fun succeeds as a berserk, feminine In Cold Blood for the 90's, and Witt and Humphrey (a special jury recognition for acting at the Sundance Film Festival) are phenomenal in it." (Graham Fuller)
